European Commission Launches Public Consultation on Vehicle Emissions

The European Commission has launched a public consultation, open until 9 December 2011, on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from road transport, with a view to obtaining the views of individuals and organizations on the relevance and impact of a proposed strategy on heavy-duty vehicles and amended legislation on car and van emissions.

21 September 2011: The European Commission has launched a public consultation on reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from road transport, with a view to obtaining the views of individuals and organizations on the relevance and impact of proposed strategy and legislation.

The consultation is open until 9 December 2011. The results will feed into the Commission’s decision making on EU regulations for cars, vans and heavy-duty vehicles. The Commission intends to propose revisions to existing regulations for car and van emissions for 2020, and put forward a strategy for addressing heavy-duty vehicles for which at present no EU regulation of their GHG emissions exists.
