EUROCLIMA Seminar Prepares for Lima

The ‘IV Seminario EUROCLIMA' brought together more than 60 participants from Latin America countries, regional organizations from the EU and Latin America, and Spanish Government entities to discuss different aspects of the regional cooperation programme on climate change between the EU and Latin America.

Euroclima3 October 2014: The ‘IV Seminario EUROCLIMA’ brought together more than 60 participants from Latin American countries, regional organizations from the EU and Latin America, and Spanish Government entities to discuss different aspects of the regional cooperation programme on climate change between the EU and Latin America.

The seminar, which took place in Lima, Peru, from 1-3 October 2014, addressed, inter alia: programme results; mainstreaming of climate change; mitigation and adaptation measures; and capacity building and knowledge sharing. The seminar also showcased actions by the EU in support of the EUROCLIMA programme and development in Latin America, and preparations for the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UNFCCC by the Peruvian Ministry of Environment.

Similarly in Lima, the EU made a donation of €5 million to the Peruvian Ministry of Environment to support the organization of COP 20. The terms of the contribution are established in an agreement between the EU and the UN Development Programme (UNDP), which was delivered to Manuel Pulgar-Vidal, Minister of Environment of Peru and incoming COP President, in a ceremony held on 2 October. COP 20 will take place from 1-12 December 2014, in Lima.
