EU Launches Consultation on the External Dimension of its Energy Policy

16 February 2011: The European Commission launched an online stakeholder consultation, open until 7 March 2011, focusing on: European energy strategies; sustainable energy; renewable energy; energy efficiency; energy technology and innovation; oil, coal, gas and electricity; nuclear energy; security of supply; external dimension; and energy infrastructure.

The aims of the EU energy policy include the promotion of energy efficiency and energy saving, and the development of new and renewable forms of energy. The consultation seeks interested parties’ views on possible priorities and possible new initiatives in the field of the EU’s external energy policy. It is open to public authorities, private organizations, industry associations, citizens, consumer organizations, trade unions, NGOs, environmental organizations, consultancies, and other relevant stakeholders inside and outside of the EU.
