UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon welcomed the opening of UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The offices contribute to the UN's shift towards carbon neutrality and the objective laid out in the Millennium Declaration to make the UN more coherent and efficient.
The environmentally friendly, energy efficient offices will host a number of UN Agencies, including: the UN Development Programme (UNDP); the UN Environment Programme (UNEP); the UN Office for Project Service (UNOPS); the World Food Programme (WFP); the UN Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN-Women); and the World Health Organization (WHO).

The environmentally friendly, energy efficient offices will host eight UN Agencies: UN Development Programme (UNDP); UN Childrens Fund (UNICEF); UN Population Fund (UNFPA); UN Environment Programme (UNEP); UN Office for Project Service (UNOPS); World Food Programme (WFP); UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women); and World Health Organization (WHO).
In his statement, Ban reiterated that “addressing climate change is a responsibility for all, and I am determined that the UN should walk the walk.”
