21 June 2010: The Earth System Science Partnership (ESSP) convened a session at the Global Media Forum on 21 June 2010, in Bonn, Germany, on “Media-ting change: the effective use of media in creating societal awareness of climate change.”

The event focused on what the global environmental change research community can learn from how climate change has been reported in the media. The 2010 Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum, which took place from 21-23 June 2010, brought together over 1,500 participants from 95 countries to discuss climate change and the media. Representatives from science, politics, business and the media participated in more than 50 workshops to examine what the media can do to increase awareness of climate change.
