DESA Opens Consultation Period for SIDSnet
story highlights

SIDSnet is undergoing revitalization to become a knowledge management system and ongoing platform aiming to facilitate partnerships for SIDS.

Input is invited during the design process, ahead of the official launch of the site during the next UN General Assembly session.

May 2011: The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Small Island Development States (SIDS) Unit has encouraged SIDS and partners to provide input on the revitalization of the Small Island Developing States Network (SIDSnet).

According its website, SIDSnet is undergoing a redesign to become a knowledge management system and an online global platform aiming to facilitate partnerships for SIDS. The new site was presented at a “soft launch” event during the 19th Session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 19), and now is ready to receive feedback from stakeholders.

To obtain access to the site for evaluation purposes, stakeholders should contact the SIDS Unit via email to Elena de Jesus (dejesuse@un.org).

The consultation and testing period for the site will run from May-September 2011, and the official launch of SIDSnet will take place during the 66th UN General Assembly, in September 2011. [SIDSnet Website]
