UNDESAJanuary 2014: The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) has launched the Third Global Accountability survey under the UN Development Cooperation Forum (DCF), in partnership with the UN Development Programme (UNDP). The survey will assess how mutual accountability mechanisms advance the effectiveness of development cooperation, within the context of expectations on development cooperation in the post-2015 development agenda.

The survey aims to gather evidence to support government efforts to strengthen development partnerships. DCF invited 140 ministries of planning and finance from developing countries to participate in the survey and consult with relevant line ministries and other stakeholders to identify mutual accountability tools, such as aid and partnership policies and dialogue platforms.

Findings will inform a high-level symposium on accountability and effectiveness in the post-2015 agenda, which will focus on development cooperation and a renewed global partnership for development. The Symposium will take place from 20-21 March 2014.

The DCF conducts the survey biennially. Two previous surveys took place in 2009 and 2011. [DESA News] [DCF Website] [Publication: 2011 Global Accountability Survey] [Publication: 2009 Global Accountability Survey]
