29 September 2017: The Climate Technology Centre and Network (CTCN) has published an update on its technical assistance contributing to implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also held a workshop on developing concept notes for the Green Climate Fund (GCF). In preparation for the UN Climate Change Conference in November, the UNFCCC Secretariat released the 2017 joint annual report of the Technology Executive Committee (TEC) and the CTCN.
The CTCN is the implementation arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, hosted by UN Environment (UNEP) and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). It recently published an update on the implementation phase of its technical assistance to support the replacement of F-refrigerants used in refrigeration system in food processing production and exports of fruits and vegetables in Chile. This technical assistance contributes to SDGs 3 (good health and well-being), 12 (responsible consumption and production) and 13 (climate action). To enable access to finance for projects envisioned in countries’ NDCs, TNAs and NAPs, the CTCN/UNEP-DTU Partnership workshop sought to enhance the skills of project proponents in preparing concept notes for future submission to the GCF.
The CTCN, in collaboration with the partnership between UN Environment (UNEP) and the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) (UNEP-DTU Partnership), and the Government of Guyana, organized a workshop on developing concept notes for the GCF. To enable access to finance for projects envisioned in countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), Technology Needs Assessments (TNAs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), the workshop sought to enhance the skills of project proponents, and technical employees of ministries, institutions and entities in preparing concept notes for future submission to the Fund.
