Conservation International Presents Ideas on Transition to Green Economy

Conservation International Brazil has published a special edition on the green economy of its online journal, Política Ambiental, titled “Green Economy: Challenges and Opportunities.” It presents ideas on how to transition to a green economy and also focuses on how Brazil can transition to a Green Economy.

September 2011: Conservation International Brazil has published a special report presenting ideas on how to transition to a green economy. The report, which is a special edition of its online journal, Política Ambiental, is titled “Green Economy: Challenges and Opportunities,” and focuses on, inter alia, how Brazil can advance towards a green economy, including elements that may form the basis of a green economy.

The special edition, which is available in Portuguese and English, contains 18 papers on topics including: the green economy concept; the relationship between green economy and sustainable development concepts; the role of inclusive growth in the transition to a green economy in developing countries; market mechanisms for a green economy; valuation and pricing of environmental resources in a green economy; the role of environmental innovations in the transition to a green economy; policies for the transition towards a green economy; agriculture in a green economy; rural development and the green economy; the impact of greening the Brazilian economy; the prospects and challenges of Brazilian law in the transition to a green economy; the causes of and solutions to deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon; and the role of financial institutions in the transition to a green economy in Brazil.
