COMIFACSeptember 2016: The Central African Forests Commission (COMIFAC) has published its annual report for 2015, which highlights achievements including partnerships with development partners, as well as an unprecedented funding crisis.

The report provides an overview of COMIFAC’s achievements in implementing the Secretariat’s Action Plan 2015, including participation in regional and international meetings, capacity-building and awareness-raising activities and project management. It also provides information on ongoing partnerships with France, Germany, Japan, the World Bank and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), among other partners.

The report also gives an overview of the financial situation, noting that a severe funding crisis results from unpaid contributions from the majority of the member countries, which make up the bulk of the institution’s resources. [COMIFAC 2015 Annual Report (in French)]
