post20155 May 2015: The Co-Facilitators of the intergovernmental negotiation process on the post-2015 development agenda have issued a revised proposal for the themes of the interactive dialogues to take place at the UN summit for the adoption of the agenda, in September 2015. The interactive dialogues were indicated in the UN General Assembly’s resolution on the modalities for the summit, adopted on 29 December 2014.

Co-Facilitators Macharia Kamau, Permanent Representative of Kenya, and David Donoghue, Permanent Representative of Ireland, circulated the proposal to Member States via UN General Assembly President Sam Kutesa on 5 May, noting that it takes into account previous discussions on the matter, and that each proposed theme addresses the three dimensions of sustainable development. Delegates previously discussed possible themes for the interactive dialogues at the third session of post-2015 negotiations, in March 2015.

The six proposed themes for the interactive dialogues are: ending poverty and hunger, and addressing humanitarian emergencies; tackling inequalities and leaving no one behind; fostering economic transformation and sustainable consumption and production (SCP); protecting our planet and tackling climate change; strengthening governance for sustainable development; and delivering on a revitalized Global Partnership.

Member States will consider the proposal in expert-level informal-informal consultations on 8 May 2015, prior to further discussion at the next session of intergovernmental negotiations on the post-2015 development, convening from 18-22 May.
