24 June 2014: The co-facilitators for the intergovernmental consultations on organizational modalities for the post-2015 Summit have submitted the first draft of a UN General Assembly (UNGA) resolution. Member States are expected to discuss the draft in informal consultations on 27 June 2014.

At the third informal consultation, on 3 June, the co-facilitators – Robert Guba Aisi, Permanent Representative of Papua New Guinea, and Ib Petersen, Permanent Representative of Denmark – received comments on “draft elements” of the organizational modalities.

By the draft resolution issued on 24 June, titled ‘Organization of the United Nations Summit for the adoption of the post-2015 development agenda,’ the UNGA would: convene the post-2015 summit on 21-23 September 2015, with the General Debate of the 70th session of the UNGA beginning on 24 September; invite participation from the UN system, development banks, parliamentarians, local authorities, academia, NGOs and civil society organizations, the private sector and other relevant stakeholders, with enhancement from an NGO trust fund; note the need “to explore innovative ways to engage and be reflective of the multiplicity of actors within the development landscape;” invite UN regional commissions to hold dialogues to provide inputs to summit preparations; request the UNGA president to organize a civil society hearing by April 2015 to provide an input prior to the Summit; and request the president of the 69th session of the UNGA to continue to hold open, inclusive and transparent consultations with all Member States, to reach agreement on all major outstanding issues relating to the Summit.
