CMS, Migratory Wildlife Network Sign Partnership Agreement
story highlights

The recently launched Migratory Wildlife Network and the CMS Secretariat have signed a Partnership Agreement with a view to coordinate and enhance civil society's engagement with the Convention's tools.

CMS MWN14 September 2011: The Secretariat to the Convention on Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and the recently launched Migratory Wildlife Network (MWN) signed a Partnership Agreement on 14 September 2011. The Agreement seeks to enhance the engagement of conservation NGOs, wildlife scientists and wildlife policy specialists to coordinate and advance the conservation of migratory wildlife through the CMS.

CMS provides a package of tools for Parties to use in conserving migratory species and their habitats. Civil society’s engagement with these tools is considered essential, and so, to facilitate coordination, the MWN is providing its members with a regular publication, Migratory Wildlife Network Digest, tuned to the needs of civil society. The Digest covers reports of the business of multilateral environmental agreements (MEAs), collaboration with a number of wildlife and habitat alliances, and communications with various MEA Secretariats. A specific Network Member Area on this website grants access to additional information tools.

In the run-up to the 10th CMS Conference of the Parties (COP 10) in November 2011, the Network also will support members with specific information related to the discussions that will take place. [CMS Press Release] [Migratory Wildlife Network Website]
