13 February 2013: The Clean Energy Solutions Center, an initiative of the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM), is seeking feedback on the Global Renewable Energy Opportunity Tool, which facilitates analysis of technical and economic potential for solar electric technologies.

The Solutions Center is particularly looking for input in three areas: Current analysis capabilities of the tool as well as an identification of other applications the tool can partner with; the quality of the data used in the tool and new sources of information, including local data that can replace more generic data; and future new developments, such as a more regional focus, the inclusion of new technologies, or a focus on other geo-spatial aspects such as water availability.

The beta version of the tool was launched at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) in June 2012, and has been supported by the US Department of Energy (DoE) and the Australian Department of Resources, Energy, and Tourism. [CEM Press Release]
