China Prioritizes GHS-related Legal System

The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), with financial support from the EU and in cooperation with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, convened the final meeting of the “Training and Capacity Building for the Implementation of the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling (GHS) in the People's Republic of China,” on 21 March 2013.

April 2013: The UN Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), with financial support from the EU and in cooperation with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, convened the final meeting of the “Training and Capacity Building for the Implementation of the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling (GHS) in the People’s Republic of China,” on 21 March 2013.

The meeting discussed and finalized the draft national GHS strategy, which will be considered by the State Council of China for approval.

According to UNITAR, participants in the final workshop also developed action plans for follow up activities. The meeting prioritized the further development of the GHS-related legal system, including the development of a list of classified chemicals in China. [UNITAR Press Release]
