UNFCCC10 September 2014: As part of its work to build developing country reporting capacity under the UNFCCC, the Consultative Group of Experts on National Communications for Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention (CGE) organized two more regional workshops: one for the Eastern European and Asia-Pacific regions and one for the Latin American and Caribbean region. The trainings focused on using the biennial update report (BUR) guidelines available on the UNFCCC website.

The trainings, which convened from 8-10 September 2014, in Yerevan, Armenia, and 16-18 July 2014, in Panama City, Panama, gave context on the framework for measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) within the Convention and provided an overview of the international consultation and analysis process. Participants also learned about the financial, technical and on-the-ground support that is available to them.

Additional sessions covered reporting on national circumstances; constraints; financial, technological and capacity-building needs; and support received. Extensive training was also provided on creating and updating greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories and measuring and recording the effects of mitigation efforts.

The workshops were organized and conducted with the assistance of the UNFCCC Secretariat. [Meetings and Workshops Webpage] [BUR Reporting Guidelines] [Latin America and Caribbean Training Workshop Agenda] [CGE Website]
