September 2008: The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)
Executive Board has released the report of its 42nd meeting, which convened
from 24-26 September 2008, at the UN Campus in Bonn, Germany.

The Board
discussed the accreditation of operation entities, small-scale projects,
programmes of activities and CDM afforestation and reforestation project
activities. Regarding the registration of project activities, the Executive
Board considered 23 of the project activities that had been placed under review
at the Board’s 41st meeting, and agreed to register 18, subject to satisfactory
corrections, and rejected 5.
The Board also considered a request for review of
66 registration requests, and agreed to register two project activities, as
corrected, and to register 23 projects with corrections, if the respective
designated operational entities submit revised project design documents and
corresponding validation reports containing the required information. The Board
also agreed to review 41 project activities.
Other issues considered included:
matters relating to the issuance of certified emission reductions and the CDM
registry; membership issues; the CDM management plan and resources for the work
on the CDM; and regional distribution of CDM projects. The report, annexes and
