CDM Beneficiaries Explain the CDM’s Impacts

Beneficiaries of Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects convened in Brussels, Belgium, to explain to Members of the European Parliament how the CDM has changed their lives.

The event was organized by the International Emissions Trading Association (IETA) and the UNFCCC Secretariat.

5 March 2012: The International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), in collaboration with the UNFCCC Secretariat, organized a “Meet the Beneficiaries” event, during which people who have benefited from Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) projects met with Members of the European Parliament to explain how the CDM has changed their lives.

The event was held on 1 March 2012, at the European Parliament in Brussels, Belgium, and brought together project beneficiaries from around the world. Commenting on the impact of the CDM on peoples’ lives, John Kilani, Director of the Sustainable Development Mechanisms programme at the UNFCCC Secretariat, underlined that, “the CDM will continue to be an important tool to stimulate investment in climate change mitigation and development.” [CDM Press Release]
