December 2015: The Climate Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) has launched a digital book, titled ‘Mainstreaming Climate Compatible Development,’ which provides insights and lessons learned from practical experience in increasing climate resilience in developing countries. The book aims to inform and support decision makers, development planners and practitioners working to address climate change by sharing practical approaches to address key challenges of climate compatible development.
The first chapter explores the link between poverty eradication and action on climate change, including reflections on specific regional challenges in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The second chapter presents the economic case for climate-compatible development and the need to reconcile the interests of different interests groups.
The subsequent chapters cover: mainstreaming climate compatible development into development planning and ensuring coherence; mobilizing resources to cover additional costs of climate compatible development; delivering results; scaling-up climate compatible development; and connecting national and global processes on tackling climate change.
After launching the book at the sidelines of the Paris Climate Change Conference, CDKN is now inviting readers to provide comments and feedback through an online survey. The results will feed into the development of a revised second edition of the book. [Publication: Mainstreaming Climate Compatible Development] [CDKN Press Release] [Online Reader Survey]
