4 April 2011: The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) has published its fourth Climate Change News Update. The March-April 2011 issue of News Update compiles major international and regional climate change news, including climate change-related events, studies, reports and resource materials.

The 4th issue of News Update includes news stories about the ongoing UNFCCC Ad hoc Working Group meetings in Bangkok, Thailand. It also includes regional news about climate change-related activities in some Caribbean countries. It reports on Guyana’s progress in implementing priority projects under its Low Carbon Development Strategy, particularly regarding Guyana’s REDD+ Investment Fund, an in-country infrastructure investment fund that manages forest payments. This came with the announcement by Norwegian Minister Erik Solheim that, in accordance with its agreement with Guyana, Norway will contribute another US$40 million to the Investment Fund for 2011.

The News Update also highlights the Caribbean Regional Conference held by the Global Change Alliance from 28-29 March 2011, during which climate change issues were discussed, including issues regarding the implementation of a plan of action as it relates to the use of funding identified for climate change mitigation.

Other stories include: highlights from the policy dialogue on “Institutional Development and Innovation in Biofuels in Latin America and the Caribbean,” organized by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO); and new documents published by the UNFCCC Secretariat on the Adaptation Committee and on non-Annex I nationally-appropriate mitigation actions (NAMAs).
