CBD Selects Experts for Asia-Pacific Workshop on REDD+

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated the list of sponsored experts for the Asia-Pacific regional consultation and capacity building workshop on REDD+, including on relevant biodiversity safeguards, scheduled to take place in March in Singapore.

17 February 2011: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated the list of sponsored experts for the Asia-Pacific regional consultation and capacity building workshop on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries and the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks (REDD+), including on relevant biodiversity safeguards.

The workshop will be held from 15-18 March 2011, in Singapore City, Singapore, with the financial support of the Governments of the UK and Germany, the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity, and the UN Development Programme (UNDP) (on behalf of the UN-REDD Programme). Participating national experts are expected to present national experience and views on REDD+ safeguards for, and assessment and monitoring of impacts of REDD+ on, biodiversity and indigenous and local communities.
