CBD Secretariat Publishes Latest Issue of Business.2020 Magazine

The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated the latest issue of Business.2020, a magazine on business and biodiversity, featuring, among other articles, an interview with Pavan Sukhdev, Special Advisor to the UN Environment Programme's Green Economy Initiative and past Study Leader for The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), a preface by CBD Executive Secretary Braulio Ferreira de Souza Dias and an article by Georg Kell, UN Global Compact Executive Director, titled 'Rio+20: Launching ground for corporate sustainability.'

CBDJune 2013: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has circulated the latest issue of Business.2020, a magazine on business and biodiversity, featuring, among other articles, an interview with Pavan Sukhdev, Special Advisor to the UN Environment Programme’s Green Economy Initiative and past Study Leader for The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB), a preface by CBD Executive Secretary Braulio Ferreira de Souza Dias and an article by Georg Kell, UN Global Compact Executive Director, titled ‘Rio+20: Launching ground for corporate sustainability.’

In addition, in the publication, Hem Pande, India’s National Focal Point for the CBD and representative of the President of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11), writes a note titled ‘Engaging business sector must go beyond statements and adoption of decisions;’ William Bulmer from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) examines how IFC performance standard 6 on biodiversity was developed and what the future may hold; and Benoit Limoges from SNC-Lavalin Environment addresses the practical impact the IFC performance standards can have and how both the company and environment can see significant benefits when these tools are applied. Bianca Brasil writes on global partnerships and the Brazilian experience; Rachel Kyte, Vice President for Sustainable Development, World Bank, presents business messages arising from the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress; and Michael Izza from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, discusses how the recently launched TEEB for Business Coalition brings together a global set of stakeholders to look at the issue of natural capital.
