CBD24 April 2014: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) is inviting Parties of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to submit information on the status of implementation of the Framework and Action Plan for Capacity-Building for the Effective Implementation of the Protocol.

Parties are invited to provide, by 13 June 2014, summaries of activities undertaken, results, good practices and lessons learned. Based on this information, the Secretariat will prepare a synthesis report for the seventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as Meeting of the Parties (COP-MOP 7) to be held in October 2014.

The Framework and Action Plan identifies priority areas, guiding principles, approaches and strategic steps for capacity building and sets out an indicative list of activities that Parties can pursue to support the implementation of the Protocol in a strategic and focused manner. It was adopted at COP-MOP 6 in 2012. [CBD Notification][Framework and Action Plan for Capacity-Building for the Effective Implementation of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety]
