CBD Releases Report of Biosafety COP/MOP 6

The final report of the 6th meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as Meeting of the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP 6) is now available.

It includes a summary of statements made at the opening and closing sessions, as well as decisions.

CBD5 December 2012: The Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) has made available the final report of the sixth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as Meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP/MOP 6).

The report includes a summary of statements made at the opening and closing sessions and decisions on, among other issues: socio-economic considerations; the Nagoya-Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress; subsidiary bodies; cooperation with other organizations, conventions and initiatives; the Biosafety Clearing-House (BCH); capacity-building; the roster of experts; monitoring and reporting; assessment and review; notification requirements; handling, transport, packaging and identification (HTPI) of living modified organisms (LMOs); unintentional transboundary movements of LMOs; financial mechanism and resources; risk assessment and risk management; and the budget.
