CBD, IPCC Invite Contributions for AR5 on Biodiversity and Climate Change

The Secretariats of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have issued a joint notification inviting contributions to the IPCC Fifth Assessment Report (AR5), including on: impacts, adaptation and vulnerability; mitigation; and water and the Earth system and sustainable development.

16 March 2011: The Secretariats of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) have issued a joint notification inviting CBD National Focal Points and focal points for the CBD’s Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) to contribute to and review chapters of its Fifth Assessment Report (AR5) related to biodiversity and climate change, to be completed in 2014.

AR5 will consist of IPCC Working Group reports and a synthesis report. Chapters related to biodiversity and climate change are included under: Working Group II on impacts, adaptation and vulnerability; Working Group III on mitigation; and cross-cutting issues on water and the Earth system, carbon cycle, and mitigation, adaptation and sustainable development.
