In addition, the IEA's training also focused on outlining state-of-the-art renewable energy technologies, such as solar hot water heaters, and assessing their cost-effectiveness and the potential for large-scale deployment.
11 July 2012: The International Energy Agency (IEA) organized a high-level energy policy dialogue and energy training with experts from the Caspian region from 3-5 July in Astana, Kazakhstan, to discuss current and emerging technology initiatives as well as best practices from the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The event brought together participants from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to share knowledge on achieving sustainable energy development goals. National and regional technology initiatives were discussed including the Inter-Regional “Green Bridge” Partnership Program. This program is Kazakhstan’s proposal to the United Nations for developing a roadmap that outlines a pathway for technology transfers throughout the region. A side event workshop on energy efficiency indicators also took place.
