CAFF Announces Photography Competition for Arctic Biodiversity Congress

The Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) Secretariat, to celebrate the Arctic Biodiversity Congress, is organizing an Arctic Biodiversity "Through the Lens" Photography Competition.

Entries are welcome in four categories; landscape, biodiversity, peoples of the North, and business and science in the Arctic.

A special prize will be awarded to a youth photographer.

CAFFJuly 2014: The Conservation of Arctic Flora and Fauna (CAFF) Secretariat, to celebrate the Arctic Biodiversity Congress, is organizing an Arctic Biodiversity “Through the Lens” Photography Competition. Entries are encouraged in four categories; landscape, biodiversity, peoples of the North, and business and science in the Arctic. A special prize will be awarded to a youth photographer.

The grand prize winner will receive a trip to Ilulissat Icefjord, Greenland, a UN Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Site. Winning images will be displayed at the Arctic Biodiversity Congress and exhibited across Arctic countries.

The Arctic Biodiversity Congress will be held from 2-4 December 2014, in Trondheim, Norway. The Congress aims to promote the conservation and sustainable use of Arctic biodiversity through dialogue among scientists, policy-makers, government officials, industry, civil society and indigenous peoples.

CAFF is the biodiversity working group of the Arctic Council, which consists of Canada, Greenland/Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Russian Federation, the US, representatives of Indigenous Peoples’ organizations that are Permanent Participants to the Council, and Arctic Council observer countries and organizations.
