CACENA, SDC Workshop Addresses IWRM as an Approach to Climate Change Adaptation in Central Asia

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) Central Asia and Caucasus (CACENA) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) held a regional workshop on “Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) as a Practical Approach to Climate Change Adaptation in Caucasus and Central Asia,” which addressed: how to adapt; ways to implement; and means of partnership and cooperation.

sda_gwf23 April 2013: The Global Water Partnership (GWP) Central Asia and Caucasus (CACENA) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) held a regional workshop on “Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) as a Practical Approach to Climate Change Adaptation in Caucasus and Central Asia,” which addressed: how to adapt; ways to implement; and means of partnership and cooperation.

The workshop, which took place from 18-19 March 2013, in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, discussed projects at the global, regional, transboundary and national levels, in particular identifying joint areas of collaboration between SDC and GWP CACENA, based on existing and proposed projects under the Swiss Cooperation Water Programme and the GWP CACENA Climate Change Adaptation Programme.

The UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) founded the GWP in 1996 to promote IWRM. [GWP Press Release]
