C4CMay 2014: Connect4Climate (C4C) has released a trailer of the documentaries it received in response to the Action4Climate contest for aspiring filmmakers. The trailer features small snapshots of the films, which call for action by featuring stories of climate change and the implementation of solutions.

The video begins by quoting World Bank Group President Jim Yong Kim: “We will never end poverty, if we don’t tackle climate change.” The clips in the video cover themes such as inequality, the future of humanity, partnerships, extreme events and working in harmony with the Earth. Images from the films capture climate-related damage and disaster, as well as innovation and action taking place around the world. The trailer exhibits that contestants chose to highlight a variety of solutions to climate change, from the innovative uses of methane to vegetable oil, from solar thermal power to plantings, from education to transportation.

The trailer ends by highlighting the 70 countries from which entries were received. Amateur filmmakers aged 14-35 were eligible to submit videos on climate change impacts and solutions to the Action4Climate contest. In October 2014, 30 of the 230 young filmmakers that submitted videos will be selected as finalists by a jury led by Italian screenwriter and director Bernardo Bertolucci.

Funded by the World Bank, the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Italian Ministry of the Environment, C4C is an initiative that seeks to raise global awareness about climate change, highlight and connect climate change activities and initiatives, and spur action to implement solutions worldwide.
