Bureau Decides on Arrangements for Additional Informal Informal Consultations

An additional week of informal informal negotiations on the draft outcome document of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) will take place from 29 May-2 June.

Two working groups would continue to be used, but with a different distribution of sections of text, and breakaway groups also could be established.

RIO+204 May 2012: At its 27th meeting, the Bureau of the Preparatory Process for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) agreed to convene an additional (third) week of informal informal consultations from 29 May-2 June.

During the third round, the Bureau agreed that Working Group I will discuss Sections I, II, III and IV, and Working Group II will discuss Section V of the draft outcome document. In addition to the Working Groups, breakaway groups could be established on certain issues, to be determined in consultation with negotiators. It was agreed that the meetings would be held within existing resources.

The Bureau also decided that the Co-Chairs would produce a new text, to be made available by 22 May. [Minutes of 27th meeting]
