Bioversity International Publishes Report of Capacity-Building Project on ITPGR Implementation

Bioversity International has published the report of the mid-term review workshop on the project 'Strengthening national capacities to implement the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture' (ITPGR), which brings together partners from Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Côte d'Ivoire, Guatemala, Nepal, Rwanda and Uganda as well as other international organizations.

Bioversity International18 November 2013: Bioversity International has published the report of the mid-term review workshop on a project, titled ‘Strengthening national capacities to implement the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture’ (ITPGR), which brings together partners from Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Côte d’Ivoire, Guatemala, Nepal, Rwanda and Uganda as well as other international organizations.

The report of the workshop, which was held from 16-19 July 2013, at the Bioversity International headquarters in Rome, Italy, summarizes progress made to date and proposes next steps in project implementation. The workshop reviewed all core themes of the project, including: national-level multilateral system policy development; developing capacity to effectively implement the ITPGR: research on policy network structure, actor characteristics and coalitions; mapping and measuring germplasm interdependence and flows: research on the dynamics of the global crop commons; linking farmers to the ITPGR and the multilateral system; and technology transfer.
