In an effort to build research capacity on the conservation of neglected and underutilized species (NUS) of domestic and wild food species, Bioversity International has organized a series of training workshops in Africa.

Bioversity International22 October 2013: In an effort to build research capacity on the conservation of neglected and underutilized species (NUS) of domestic and wild food species, Bioversity International has organized a series of training workshops in Africa.

The courses are based on the understanding that these species play an important role in supporting rural livelihoods and can help populations adapt to climate change. The first course will be based in Benin for scientists from Benin, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria and Senegal, and it will focus on science writing and communication. The second will take place in Uganda for scientists from Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique and Uganda, and it will focus on understanding value chain analysis. The final course will also be based in Uganda, and it will be focused on food systems. The courses are open to scientists under 40, and applications are due prior to 28 October 2013.
