Bioversity International13 August 2013: In a five year agreement focusing on research collaboration and training through 2016, Bioversity International and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) have agreed to collaborate on biodiversity use and conservation, technical assistance, publications, outreach and training, as well as support for the exchange of plant genetic resources.

ICAR and Bioversity will continue their collaborations on wild tropical fruit diversity, reinforcement of rural communities’ resilience to climate change through on-farm conservation and agricultural biodiversity, farmer field networks, and genebank support. The program is expected to strengthen ICAR’s work on plant genetic resources and its history of training and capacity building. The partnership also envisions an expansion of its work to Africa.

Bioversity International is a member of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). [Bioversity International Press Release]
