3 January 2013: The African Water Facility (AWF) held its 12th Governing Council meeting focused on the implementation of the AWF Strategy 2012-2016, adopted in late 2011, as well as AWF’s overall progress.

Specific topics covered included: the status of project approvals, disbursements, knowledge sharing, staffing, cumulative results, and the 2013 workplan and budget. The Governing Council commended the AWF for its progress and invited further effort to achieve its operational objectives.

The meeting, which took place on 22-23 November 2013, in Tunis, Tunisia, brought together 11 of 13 Governing Council members, alongside observers from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and Technical Advisory Committee of the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW). The African Water Facility (AWF) is an initiative led by AMCOW to mobilize resources to finance water resources development activities in Africa. AfDB hosts the Facility on the request of AMCOW.
