African CSO Secretariat Launches Post-2015 Communique, Website and Questionnaire
story highlights

ACORD and African Monitor are providing leadership to the African CSO Secretariat, which has launched a 10-question survey on its website, Ask Africa Now.

The Secretariat seeks to ensure that African civil society's proposals and needs are taken into account in defining the post-2015 development agenda.

January 2013: The Monrovia African Civil Society Organization (CSO) Forum took place from 23-25 October 2012, and concluded with Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of Liberia, agreeing to host the CSO Secretariat within her office. The Secretariat seeks to ensure that African civil society’s proposals and needs are taken into account in defining the post-2015 development agenda.

The Agency for Cooperation and Research in Development (ACORD) and African Monitor are jointly providing leadership to the CSO Secretariat, which will use online questionnaires to give voice to voiceless communities. A 10-question survey was released in December.

The Forum also resulted in a Communique identifying priority actions needed prior to 2015. These actions address: completing the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), new goals for the post-2015 framework, and actions required by national governments, regional bodies, the UN High-level Panel on the Post-2015 Development Agenda (HLP), and the UN.

The website of the African CSO Secretariat, launched in December 2012, features the Post 2015 Africa Civil Society Organisations questionnaire as well as news, analysis, key reference documents and interactive discussions via the Ask Africa Now twitter pages.
