AEWA Announces Appointment of Acting Executive Secretary

The August e-Newsletter from the Secretariat of the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) announces an interim leadership appointment, reports on the preparations for the upcoming fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA, and provides the outcomes of World Migratory Bird Day 2011.

August 2011: In the latest African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) e-Newsletter, the Secretariat announces the appointment of Marco Barbieri as Acting Executive Secretary of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP)/AEWA Secretariat until a new Executive Secretary has been recruited.

The e-Newsletter also includes reports on: the AEWA accession meeting and Lesser White-fronted Goose (Anser erythopus) workshop held in Azerbaijan, from 26-27 May 2011; preparations for the fifth session of the Meeting of the Parties to AEWA (MOP 5), which will take place from 14-18 May 2012, in La Rochelle, France; and outcomes of World Migratory Bird Day 2011.
