ADP Session Opens with Focus on Renewable Energy

The fourth part of the second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) opened at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany, and will conclude on 14 March 2014.

UNFCCC10 March 2014: The fourth part of the second session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP) has opened at the World Conference Center in Bonn, Germany. It will conclude on 14 March 2014.

The meeting aims to elaborate the content of the 2015 agreement, initiate to facilitate domestic preparations for nationally determined contributions, and unlock opportunities for raising pre-2020 ambition in preparation for the development of a draft negotiating text by the 20th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 20) to the UNFCCC, to be held in December 2014, in Lima, Peru. The meeting will consist of open-ended consultations on elements for a draft negotiating text and technical expert meetings aimed at engaging delegates and stakeholders and non-State actors, including the implementation community.

Following an opening plenary, participants will engage in: technical expert meetings on renewable energy and energy efficiency; open-ended consultations on ADP item 3 (workstreams 1 and 2); and a workshop on domestic preparations for intended nationally determined contributions.
