UNFCCC16 September 2014: The UNFCCC Secretariat has published a corrigendum (ADP.2014.6.NonPaper.Corr.1) to a non-paper containing parties’ views and proposals on the elements for a draft negotiating text issued by the Co-Chairs of the Ad Hoc Working Group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action (ADP).

The original non-paper (ADP.2014.6.NonPaper) was released on 7 July 2014, in conjunction with a reflections note by the ADP Co-Chairs, a revised draft decision on intended nationally determined contributions (INDCs), and a draft decision on accelerating the implementation of enhanced pre-2020 climate action.

The corrigendum concerns text under the heading ‘Means of implementation – finance, technology and capacity building’ and subheading ‘Institutional arrangements, cooperation and coordination’ on lines 258-263 of the original document. In relation to provisions for inclusion of mechanisms, and a proposal to provide for a mechanism to promote and finance adaptation and mitigation actions, new text has been added, which reads: “Establish a joint Mitigation and Adaptation Mechanism for the Integral and Sustainable Management of Forests.”

The corrigendum was issued in response to a letter from a party to the ADP Co-Chairs, which followed the Co-Chairs’ invitation to parties to alert them in case important ideas or proposals had not been reflected in the document. The sixth part of the second session of the ADP will be held from 20-25 October 2014, in Bonn, Germany. [Parties’ Views and Proposals on the Elements for a Draft Negotiating Text.
