20 September 2011: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has released a report titled “Greening Growth in Asia and the Pacific,” which aims to present a snapshot of ADB’s support to environmentally sustainable growth in the region.
The report outlines emerging environment challenges including: increasing resource-intensive industry, pollution, and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; increasing need for urban infrastructure and services; projected scarcities in food, water, and non-renewable resources; vulnerability to climate change; and weak environmental governance.
The report highlights several ADB initiatives promoting clean energy, sustainable transport and urban development, and climate resilient development.
