adaptation-fund-cdkn5 December 2014: The Adaptation Fund and the Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN) announced their creation of a new website called Climate Finance Ready. The website will serve as an online platform for climate finance readiness, by highlighting best practices, articles, links and opportunities for sharing experiences.

The website aims to foster ongoing dialogue and collaboration on climate finance readiness. According to its partners, the site will also help to enhance the confidence and capacity of partners to alleviate the unequal and unjust impacts of climate change by leveling the climate financing playing field. Climate Finance Ready is expected to be launched in late 2014 or early 2015.

Mamadou Honadia, Chair, Adaptation Fund Board, explained, “we believe this website and the partnership with CDKN will create a very useful way for all to share and build upon various experiences with climate finance.” Ari Huhtala, Deputy CEO Policy and Programmes, CDKN, underscored the role of web-based instruments “in supporting developing country policy makers to plan for a climate compatible future.”

The website initiative is part of the Adaptation Fund’s Readiness Programme for Climate Finance, a two-year initiative that aims to strengthen the capacity of national and regional entities to receive and manage climate finance, as they build resilience to changing conditions.

The Adaptation Fund discussed the website at a side event at the Lima Climate Change Conference.

The Adaptation Fund finances adaptation projects and programmes in developing countries that are parties to the Kyoto Protocol and vulnerable to the adverse effects of climate change. CDKN helps support decision-makers in developing countries to design and deliver climate compatible development through technical assistance, research and knowledge-sharing.
