Adaptation Fund Board Releases 13th Meeting Report

At its 13th meeting, which convened in Bonn, Germany, in March 2011, the Adaptation Fund Board: welcomed the new Chair Ana Fornelis de Frutos (Spain) and Vice-Chair Luis Santos (Uruguay); and discussed issues related to accreditation, proposed projects and reviews, and ethics and finance.

18 April 2011: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has released the report of its 13th meeting, which convened in Bonn, Germany, from 17-18 March 2011.

During the meeting, the AFB welcomed the new Chair, Ana Fornelis de Frutos (Spain), and Vice-Chair, Luis Santos (Uruguay). The AFB heard a report on the activities of the Secretariat, including screening of applications for accreditation, participation in workshops and the development of the accreditation toolkit. The Board discussed issues of accreditation and adopted numerous decisions to help applicants in the accreditation process. On the Project and Programme Review Committee, the AFB decided on proposed projects in Tanzania, Solomon Islands, Eritrea, Ecuador and Uruguay. On the Ethics and Finance Committee, the AFB endorsed the Guidelines for Project/Programme Final Evaluations, as well as the Evaluation Framework.
The AFB agreed to defer further consideration of the issue of vulnerability until progress on the definition has been made. The AFB also decided to act on recommendations made in the communications strategy. The AFB agreed that the next board meeting would take place in Bonn, Germany, from 21-22 June 2011, and welcomed discussion on engagement with civil society.
