Adaptation Fund3 September 2012: The Adaptation Fund Board (AFB) has decided to recommend that the Global Environment Facility (GEF) should remain as the interim secretariat for the Adaptation Fund Board. The intersessional decisions of the Adaptation Fund Board are based on a Performance Review of the Secretariat and Trustee of the AFB.

The Board decided against the recommendation of shifting the oversight of the Trustee’s activities to the Secretariat. Instead, these will remain the responsibility of the Board. In addition, the AFB encouraged the Trustee to limit direct participation in the AFB meetings to one senior representative, and to provide justification if additional representation is necessary.

The AFB also decided to explore how best to guarantee GEF cross-cutting support to the AFB. In an additional decision, the AFB adopted its report to the 8th Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP).
