Adaptation and Loss and Damage Update: Publications Promote Gender Responsiveness, Outline Institutional Challenges to Adaptation

The NAP Global Network published a brief titled, ‘A Framework for Gender-Responsive National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Processes,’ discussing gender equality in the context of the formulation and implementation of NAPs.

USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific and partners developed a training package titled ‘Gender and Climate Change Adaptation’.

The NAP Global Network issued a guidance note titled ‘Financing National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Processes: Contributing to the achievement of nationally determined contribution (NDC) adaptation goals,’ seeking to assist countries with the development of strategies for securing funding for the various stages of the NAP process.

August 2017: Recent publications on climate change adaptation have explored a range of issues, including: the gender-climate nexus and ways to enhance gender responsiveness in adaptation; adaptation finance for the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process and project development; and institutional challenges to climate change adaptation in East Africa.

The NAP Global Network has published a brief titled, ‘A Framework for Gender-Responsive National Adaptation Plan (NAP) Processes,’ discussing gender equality in the context of the formulation and implementation of NAPs. The publication highlights gender equality as a stand-alone goal and a cross-cutting issue across a number of other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific training package on gender and climate change adaptation promotes the incorporation of gender considerations into adaptation policies, programmes and project development throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The relationship between climate change adaptation and gender is the focus of a flexible training package developed by USAID Adapt Asia-Pacific and partners. Titled ‘Gender and Climate Change Adaptation,’ the training package is designed for delivery by the International Centre for Climate Change and Development (ICCCD). It promotes the incorporation of gender considerations into adaptation policies, programmes and project development throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Other issues explored in recent publications include NAP finance, adaptation project development and institutional challenges to climate change adaptation.
