This Day is organized by the Secretariat of the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar Convention). The World Wetlands Day theme for 2012 is “Wetlands and Tourism” and is linked to the theme for the 11th meeting of the Conference of the Contracting Parties (COP 11) to the Ramsar Convention, which is “Wetlands, Tourism and Recreation.” COP 11 will take place in June 2012, in Bucharest, Romania.
