World Wetlands Day (WWD) is celebrated annually on 2 February. Each year since 1997, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and groups of citizens at all levels of the community have taken advantage of the opportunity to undertake actions aimed at raising public awareness of wetland values and benefits in general, and the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat (Ramsar) in particular. Since 2013 is the UN International Year for Water Cooperation, this year`s WWD theme is “Wetlands and water management” and the slogan for the Day is “Wetlands take care of water”.
