World Weather Open Science Conference 2014

The World Weather Open Science Conference (WWOSC2014): The Weather: What's the Outlook, which is convening for the first time ever, will bring together the weather science and user communities under the overarching theme ‘Seamless Prediction of the Earth System: from minutes to months'. WWOSC2014 will examine the “frontiers of knowledge,” and outline new scientific goals and challenges. The Conference will feature special sessions on high-impact weather events, such as heatwaves, droughts, cold snaps and floods. The Conference's two streams – the Science Program and the User, Application and Social Science Program – will meet in joint plenary and special sessions. The Science Program will cover basic weather research, as well research needed to establish prediction systems and assess the impacts of weather and climate events. The User Program will consider challenges and opportunities associated with communicating and employing weather information, science and services that reap social and economic benefits. The Conference is being co-organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the International Council for Science, Environment Canada, and the National Research Council, Canada.
