World Water Day 2017

World Water Day, held annually on 22 March, raises awareness of the global water crisis – over 663 million people live without a safe water supply close to home and cope with the health impacts of using contaminated water. In 2017, the Day will address the theme of wastewater, encouraging its reduction and reuse with a view to supporting the water cycle and meeting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6 target to halve the proportion of untreated wastewater and substantially increasing recycling and safe reuse globally by 2030. The Day, established by the UN General Assembly in 1993, is coordinated by UN-Water in collaboration with governments and partners.
