The 2017 World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) will focus on the linkages between land degradation, migration and security. Under the slogan, 'Our land. Our home. Our Future,' WDCD 2017 will explore how to strengthen the resilience of local communities in areas affected by land degradation, desertification and drought through investing in land productivity, food security and generating local employment. The global observance event will take place in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on 15 June, hosted by le Ministère de l'Environnement, de l'Economie Verte et du Changement Climatique (MEEVCC).
