To commemorate World AIDS Day 2016 and the commitment to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030 as part of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), UNAIDS will host a special event on 'Moving Forward Together: Leaving No One Behind,' on 30 November 2016. The event will honor the leadership of UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and his legacy of leaving no one behind in the response to HIV. Other speakers will include: Peter Thomson, President of the UN General Assembly (UNGA); Rebecca Awiti, Women Fighting AIDS in Kenya; Naomi Campbell, actor, model and activist; Kenneth Cole, Chairman of amfAR and UNAIDS International Goodwill Ambassador; and Ambassador Dho Young-Shim, Chairperson, SDG Advocates. Also on the occasion of World AIDS Day, the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) in collaboration with UNAIDS will organize a special briefing on 'Ending the AIDS Epidemic by 2030: How can Civil Society Revitalize the Response?'. In addition, there will be a screening of 'Dallas Buyers Club,' followed by an intervention from Jeremiah Johnson, HIV Prevention Research & Policy Coordinator at the Treatment Action Group, on his personal experience of living with HIV. These two events will take place on 1 December 2016.
