Workshop on People First Public-Private Partnerships

The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is organizing a workshop on People First Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) to share experiences on PPPs and discuss their relevance for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The workshop will focus on “people-first PPPs,” which stress people as the main priority and beneficiary of all stakeholders in a PPP, and emphasize improving the quality of life of communities by tackling poverty, promoting well-being, gender equality, access to education, energy, transport and water, and promoting social cohesion and justice, among other aims. The workshop aims to: raise awareness about people-first PPP models; provide templates and standards for replicating people-first PPP models; and monitor and assess progress in implementing people-first PPPs and identifying sectors where more work is needed. UNECE will present its upcoming 'Recommendation on PPPs in Trade Facilitation'. Other participants will present people-first PPP case studies from Armenia, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Tajikistan, and Thailand.
